Happy Thanksgiving From the BeHealthConscious Team!
Below are some upcoming event from C.H.O.I.C.E.S. & other nonprofits!

10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY - TWILIGHT EVENT
Held on Friday, October 19th, The 7th Annual
Twilight on Childhood Obesity Event at the Buckhead Theater in Atlanta was a very special evening.  What a way to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of The Center Helping Obesity In Children End Successfully, Inc. (C.H.O.I.C.E.S.)

The evening featured hilarious performances by comedian George Wallace and mistress of ceremony, actress Myra J.. Over 400 guests experienced a scrumptous dinner by Legendary Events and a chilling display by Ketel One Vodka. All before the show started!

A very special thank you goes to the Aetna Foundation for being the presenting sponsor and to comedian George Wallace for his donation of $30,000! The evening's excitement level continued with the Atlanta Falcons' donation of a Falcons Suite at the Georgia Dome which raised $4,500 in the live auction.
The Twilight event was made possible by the giving of corporate and individual donors. Please take a moment to click the links below to see everyone that made the event such a spectacular evening.

Mark your calendar for next year's Twilight event to be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 in Atlanta!

HEALTHY TIPS FOR THANKSGIVING
The holiday season is here! Time for dessert tasting and dinners with all of the extra sides. This most certain makes cutting down on sugar and sodium consumption a challenge. Did you know that the average person  consumes 76 pounds of sugar per year according to the USDA? And, that the average person should aim to consume LESS than 1500 milligrams of salt per day according to the American Heart Association?

It's going to take effort, but reading food labels, eating smaller portions and cooking with a conscience can make all the difference. Here's two links to websites with healthy, flavorful holiday recipes:

LET'S GET MOVING...JOIN IN A WALK!
Now is the time to get moving! Participate in a local walk / run to keep off the holiday pounds. You can start getting ready now by setting a goal of walking a little bit more each day leading up to the race. Don't forget, the ultimate goal for most adults is to walk up to 10,000 steps a day.
